Equata James
Project Director

“God is in the details.”
-Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

With over 30 years of industry experience, Equata James leads the efforts of Leapley’s seasoned project management team. An excellent communicator who puts the clients’ needs first, Equata is the kind of leader who instills a true sense of team among all project participants.

As Project Director, Equata is responsible for all operational planning activities, as well as quality, schedule, and cost. Equally comfortable framing big-picture strategy as she is managing the small details, Equata orchestrates projects from design through construction and client move-in, monitoring and communicating budget, schedule, and project status throughout.

Her varied career experiences have contributed to her ease with leading throughout all project phases, from conceptual design through preconstruction, construction, and close-out. Through her work in corporate interiors, higher education, retail, industrial, and hospitality, Equata has served clients such as The Coca-Cola Company, Federal Aviation Administration, King & Spalding, Cox Enterprises, Federal Reserve Bank, and Atlanta University Center.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Auburn University.

When she’s not at a job site or analyzing drawings, Equata enjoys making plans for her garden and spending time with family.

Among the distinctions Equata has received are:

  • Member to Member Business Award from Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Atlanta, 2014
  • Associated General Contractor’s Project Award
